摘要: We have developed improved versions of three different radar systems and integrated them as an airborne instrumentation suite for sounding imaging Polar ice sheets. The first instrument consists a multi-channel, coherent, pulsed operating at VHF with up to 20 MHz bandwidth. This is capable few-kilometer thick while flying altitudes 10 km above mean sea level. second designed operate UHF using burst narrow-bandwidth signals digitally synthesize bandwidth in excess 300 MHz. apparatus used measure internal layers the sheet depth close 100 m. third component package based on frequency-modulated continuous wave (FMCW) radar, which operates microwave (Ku band) frequencies 1 GHz instantaneous set surface elevation profile centimeter accuracy. are presenting description each system, emphasis sounder. also present sample field test results obtained during 2009 austral summer season Antarctica, validation performance package.
