Studies of the volume distributions normal human, canine, and chicken erythrocytes through use a Model B Coulter electronic particle counter plotter 400 channel analyzer have confirmed that instrument provides true reflection cell volume, independent conductivity medium, shape erythrocyte, buffers, anticoagulants employed. 2. The non-Gaussian distribution pattern human cells has been confirmed, but no evidence found for distinct bimodal in which freshly collected, pipetted, examined. 3. Swelling 0.5 per cent NaCl alters to distribution, hemoglobin-free ghosts 1 is more nearly symmetric than intact red NaCl. 4. Gaussian erythrocyte volumes suggests both critical ionic content cells. 5. asymmetry at tonicity plasma appears related higher intracellular osmotic activity smaller cells, based on anomalous coefficient hemoglobin. It suggested, therefore, skewing curve lower end spectrum, rather upper end.
