摘要: The formation of the HIV-1 core is final step in viral maturation pathway, resulting infectious virus. Most current models for suggest that, upon proteolytic cleavage from immature Gag, capsid (CA) dissociates into interior before reforming core. Here we present evidence an alternate view by taking advantage our serendipitous observation large membrane-enclosed structures supernatants infected cells. Cryo-electron tomographic studies show that these structures, which contain ordered arrays what likely membrane-associated matrix protein, multiple cores can be captured at different stages maturation. Our HIV involves a non-diffusional phase transition detaching layer cleaved CA lattice gradually converted roll ultimately forms surface mature conical
