摘要: There is mounting evidence that pets are associated with physiological, psychological and social benefits for humans. Much of this research has come from western countries, where there have been consistent calls greater engagement pet ownership health. Drawing on a secondary analysis 61 in-depth interviews people, or carers long-term conditions, we explore how feature in people's narrative accounts their experiences. Our findings demonstrate the multifaceted nature relationships pets, embedded embodied ways which human-nonhuman interactions played out narratives chronic illness. study differs other work health that, by returning to interview video recordings, were able sometimes three-way interactions, co(a)gency, between participants, researchers. Pets often presented as important family members, yet researchers' responses presence talk about was markedly different reactions household members. We conclude cautioning against downgrading research. Narrative approaches may invite participants what them, they clearly limitations practice.
