The internalisation theory of the multinational enterprise: A review of the progress of a research agenda after 30 years

摘要: This paper reviews the progress of research agenda initiated by The Future Multinational Enterprise (1976). Focusing initially on problem explaining existence multinational enterprise, soon broadened to encompass analysis alternative modes foreign market entry, role international joint ventures, impact innovation corporate growth, and culture in business. core philosophy – based Coasian nature firm rational action modelling has remained constant, while widening range applications encouraged synthesis with theories developed other fields research. Success answering any one question invariably generates new questions, which must turn be answered through a further extension theory, this dynamic continues drive development theory today.
