摘要: The success of blood spot newborn screening in the USA led to early efforts parts Asia Pacific Region mid-1960s. While there were leaders region, many countries with depressed and developing economies are only now beginning organized efforts. Four periods growth region identified. Beginning 1960s, began New Zealand Australia, followed by Japan a cord programme for G6PD deficiency Singapore. In 1980s, established programmes added congenital hypothyroidism new developed Taiwan, Hong Kong, China (Shanghai), India Malaysia. Programmes 1990s built on experience others more rapidly Korea, Thailand Philippines. 2000s, limited funding support from International Atomic Energy Agency, has been development around detection Indonesia, Mongolia, Sri Lanka, Myanmar Pakistan. Palau recently contracted Philippine programme. There is little information available activities Nepal, Cambodia, Laos other Island nations, no apparent. Since approximately half births world occur Region, it important continue ongoing implementation expansion so that these children can attain same health status as their full potential be realized.
