摘要: Papillomaviruses are a diverse group of DNA viruses that infect the skin and mucosal tissues vertebrates. More than 100 distinct human papillomavirus (HPV) genotypes have so far been identified. A subset HPVs is known to cause cancer. Although recently developed vaccines protect vaccinated individuals from two most carcinogenic HPV types, there pressing need for next-generation might offer broad-spectrum protection against full range cancer-causing HPVs. The ongoing development such will be facilitated by deeper understanding mechanics assembly nonenveloped virion, as well machinelike structural changes occur in virion during process infectious entry into host cells. This chapter reviews field’s current knowledge these aspects biology speculates about areas where further work needed.
