摘要: In January 1939 the news of discovery nuclear fission burst in America, sending physicists into their laboratories to try confirm startling new discovery. Some aspects story how this reached America are well known. Others, however, not; they have remained hidden private correspondence and other unpublished documents. By examining these materials conjunction with published literature, one can reconstruct circumstances that converged produce historic event.
