摘要: Abstract Objective Thoracic Surgery has witnessed a massive revolution in the last 25 years with standardization of video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery as best approach thoracic operations. Earlier, when was done through huge thoracotomy incisions and rib spreading retractors their excruciating pain, chest tube pain masked, but using VATS, caused surgeons seeking early removal tubes. With advances instruments stapling devices, amount air-leak significantly reduced, diminishing time needed for drainage. Methods A prospective study, from May 2014 to December 2016, included 29 patients admitted service Faculty Medicine, Assiut University. Patients had different clinical presentations. Undergoing VATS procedures (uni-portal all except one), they were then divided into two groups: study group, those intra-operative tube, (16 patients) control group (13 patients). would undergo an test. Results The groups significant difference post-operative mean score (study 4.9 & 7.8), hospital stay 1.4 4). Both similar occurrence pneumothorax 25% 23.1%), only 2 (12.5%) requiring re-insertion tube. Conclusions Intra-operative during safe technique well selected successful test radiological follow-up. This provided lesser shorter stay.
