摘要: Abstract A description of the nature and kinematics Agulhas Current termination is given based on satellite infrared imagery selected hydrographic measurements collected over past decade. On average retroflection lies between 16° 20°E longitude has a loop diameter 340 km. During period investigation protruded into South Atlantic at intervals slightly more than one month, shedding pinched-off ring with about 320 km its most westerly extension. Rings drift away 12 cm s−1 can be observed by their distinctive thermal characteristics sea surface as far west 5°E south 46°S, well subtropical convergence. The rate rings subsequent may play an important role in dynamics Ocean.
