Epidemiology of Epilepsy in Pakistan: Review of literature

摘要: Objective To review literature pertinent to the epidemiology of epilepsy in developing countries with special reference Pakistan. Methods All studies published medical journals related Pakistan were systematically reviewed. Important findings from various are summarized. Results Overall prevalence is estimated be 9.99 per 1000 population. Highest seen people younger than 30 years age. A slight decrease noted between ages 40 and 59. Higher observed rural Etiology more commonly identified pediatric Epilepsy was considered idiopathic 21 76% cases. Only 27.5% epileptic persons urban areas 1.9% treated AEDs. The burden not fully evaluated understood. Generalized seizures most common seizure type noted. Knowledge about its care extremely low. Conclusion a problem Paksitan, prevalent majority inadequately or inappropriately.
