摘要: AA2219 aluminium alloy has gathered wide acceptance in the fabrication of light weight structures requiring a high strength to ratio. Compared fusion welding processes that are routinely used for joining structural alloys, friction stir (FSW) process is an emerging solid state which material being welded does not melt and recast. This uses non-consumable tool generate frictional heat abutting surfaces. The parameters pin profile play major roles deciding weld quality. In this investigation, attempt been made understand effect speed on FSP zone formation alloy. Five different profiles (straight cylindrical, tapered threaded triangular square) have fabricate joints at three speeds. analysed macroscopically. Tensile properties evaluated correlated with formation. From investigation it found square profiled produces mechanically sound metallurgically defect free welds compared other profiles.
