Electron-temperature-gradient-induced instability in tokamak scrape-off layers

摘要: An electron temperature instability driven by the Kunkel-Guillory sheath impedance has been applied to scrape-off layer of tokamaks. The formalism generalized in order more fully account for parallel wavelength dynamics, differentiate between electromagnetic and electrostatic perturbations particle recycling effects. It is conjectured that this conducting wall leads edge fluctuations tokamaks produce layers tens ion gyroradii thick. predicted characteristics have similarities experimental fluctuation data, width DIII-D experiment agrees with theoretical estimates can be derived from mixing length theory
