摘要: Abstract Industrial oily water containing oil, grease and dust has been treated using stage-wise filtration, first by sand bed followed cross-flow ultrafiltration hollow fiber membrane. The removes majority of suspended particles reduces the turbidity from 13.6 NTU to 2.6 NTU. Effects transmembrane pressure drop cross flow rate on performance were investigated. A transport phenomena based model under framework boundary layer theory was developed quantify flux decline oil through membrane during filtration in fiber. results matched remarkably well with experimental data. mechanism analyzed found be governed cake formation. Formation cake-layer supported scanning electron micrography fresh fouled membranes Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy. modeling separation estimates system parameters will aid scaling up set-up industrial scale for treatment effluent oil.
