摘要: Insects are major contributors to natural as well man-managed ecosystems and largely bear on human affairs, both positively negatively. They have varied microbial communities that provide them with nutritional benefits, enhanced defenses, improved stress resistance. This review centers contributions of gut symbionts their insect hosts. It explores the complex relationships between symbiont, host nutrition, life cycle, summarizing some important developments in symbiotic science. particularly focuses Tephritidae fruit flies cause enormous agricultural damage. exposes present knowledge tephritids Ceratitis capitata (the Mediterranean fly) Bactrocera oleae Olive recapitulates recent advances improvement performance mass-reared sterile males used technique combat medfly.
