Assessment of Abnormalities in Reproductive Organs of Hot Pepper Induced by Low Night Temperature

摘要: Low night temperature (LNT) adversely affects productivity of pepper (Capsicum annuum L.) grown in unheated greenhouses. Flower abnormalities were investigated the local hot cvs. Beldi and Baklouti a growth chamber at day/night regime low (25/10°C, LNT) or optimum (ONT; 25/20°C, as control). The LNT induced flowers but sensitivity was cultivar dependent; increased ovary diameter ‘Baklouti’ (40% more than that ‘Beldi’) associated with decrease style length. Numbers ovules decreased 60% under (more so ‘Baklouti’). In addition, longitudinal lengths transverse diameters ovaries, measured by section, affected regime. Fruit set percentage lowest fruit characteristics poorest when self-pollinated LNT, although artificial pollination pollen from ONT set. More seed per fruit, heavier longer ...
