摘要: As a first step to characterize human meibum and tear lipids, infrared spectroscopy was applied the molecular structure/conformation packing of hydrocarbon chains. Temperature-induced phase transitions were fit sigmoid equation experimentally reproducible similar for multiple samples collected from same person. No hysteresis observed. Hydration polar lipids increased their transition cooperativity, enthalpy entropy. Hydrophobic interactions in lipid (ML) stronger than tear-fluid (TL), as reflected by higher entropy gel liquid crystalline ML. The results this study provide further evidence differences composition structure ML TL. conformational changes observed chains with temperature suggest that therapeutic delivery eye lid heating could be related disorder tails. This work also highlights power structure/conformation, provides basis future studies film composition-structure-function relationships lipid-protein relation age, sex, dry symptoms.
