摘要: OBJECTIVE Community-based participatory research has the potential to improve implementation of best practices reduce disparities but seldom been applied in mental health services research. This article presents content and lessons learned from a national conference designed stimulate such an application. DESIGN Mental program developers collaborated hosting two-day that included plenary break-out sessions, sharing approaches community-academic partnership development, preliminary findings partnered studies. Sessions were audiotaped, transcribed analyzed by teams academic community participants identify themes about practices, challenges faced research, recommendations for development field. Themes illustrated with selections project descriptions at conference. SETTING AND PARTICIPANTS Participants, representing 9 institutions 12 community-based agencies four US census regions, partners five centers funded National Institute Health, also staff federal non-profit funding agencies. RESULTS Five emerged: 1) Partnership Building; 2) Implementing Supporting Partnered Research; 3) Developing Creative Dissemination Strategies; 4) Evaluating Impact; 5) Training. CONCLUSIONS Emerging knowledge factors process can enhance uptake new interventions services. Conference proceedings suggested further this field may hold promise improved address quality chasm service disparities.
