Dietary intakes and health-related behaviours of Korean American women born in the USA and Korea: The Multiethnic Cohort Study

摘要: Objective: This study assessed and compared heath-related behaviours nutrient food group intakes between US-born Korea-born Korean American women. Design subjects: Cross-sectional analyses were performed for ethnic Koreans who participated in the Multiethnic Cohort Study Hawaii Los Angeles 1993– 1996. The sample included 492 women aged 45–75 years born USA (n ¼ 274) or Korea 218). Participants recruited using driver’s license files as a primary sampling source completed self-administered questionnaire, including quantitative frequency section. Results: proportion overweight obese was 31.4% 9.4% had higher of total fat percentage energy, lower sodium, vitamin C, b-carotene carbohydrate than Comparing servings from Food Guide Pyramid, reported more whole grains, red meat nuts, less soy products, did also consumed fewer vegetables fruit those Korea. Few either that met recommendations dairy foods. Intake discretionary Pyramid tip Conclusions: These findings indicate acculturation immigrants affects dietary ways may alter risks several chronic diseases. Further studies will be necessary to examine effects on disease patterns.
