摘要: Tectonic significance of the Teisseyre-Tornquist zone in light new research. A b s t r a c t. The Zone (TTZ), transcontinental feature evident from magnetic and gravity maps, runs obliquely across territory Poland NW to SE for century it has been considered deep tectonic boundary between Precambrian East European Platform (EEP) NE so-called young Palaeozoic SW. results quantitative interpretation data, integrated with data reflection seismic profiles crossing TTZ, indicate continuation basement EEP its lower cover toward SW underneath southwestern Poland. They also suggest occurrence crustal keel beneath TTZ. In broader context geology, these imply location hypothetical Caledonian suture, marking site collision Avalonia Baltica, not along but farther SW, northern Germany southwest Another implication is that extensive Permian-Mesozoic sedimentary basins western are established above attenuated margin Baltica palaeocontinent.
