摘要: Many taxa of Nearctic origin have diversified in the subtropical highlands Mexico. In particular, flies genus Rhagoletis undergone episodes isolation and gene flow during Pleistocene glaciations post-glacial times that produced lineage differentiation reproductive isolation. To reach a better understanding phylogeography Rhagoletis, host plant survey walnut-infesting suavis species group was conducted across sixteen states comprising 34 different collecting sites Mexico over 9-year period. Five Juglans were found to be infested by three walnut-attacking flies. Several parasitoids also recovered from collections, but contrast their walnut fly hosts, they revealed little evidence for or geographic subdivision. There no consistent difference mean eclosion time between populations associated with walnuts Mexico, unlike case other species, which allochronic arising variation diapause timing is major ecological adaptation, reproductively isolating We compare distribution R. suavis those attacking hawthorns cherries, discuss its implications population divergence speciation. © 2013 The Linnean Society London, Biological Journal Society, 2013, 110, 765–779.
