摘要: Abstract The digestive properties of Australian elapid snake venoms have not been studied to any great extent. To address this, the in vitro Oxyuranus scutellatus (Australian Coastal Taipan) venom were investigated a simulation vivo conditions using parameters reported for stomach snakes and representative prey this species. amount soluble protein released was measured over time bicinchoninic acid (BCA) assay. Dismembered mouse hindlegs injected intramuscularly with 0.1 ml O. (concentration 10 mg/ml) maintained micro-anaerobic, acidic environment ( pH ≈ 1.2 –1.7) at 25 °C. bathing liquid sampled every 24 h 7 days, assayed protein. Statistical analysis revealed that increased rate which proteins when compared negative control suggesting potential importance envenomation digestion whole prey.
