摘要: Our knowledge of the systematics and taxonomy Asian birds has improved much in last two decades, number recognised species increased significantly as a result in-depth studies using an integrative taxonomic approach. The Sino-Himalayan mountains harbor high level passerine diversity. Several allopatric or parapatric taxa that are currently treated subspecies polytypic within region likely to deserve full status, thus their status needs be revisited. Based on analyses multilocus data, vocalizations morphology, we propose white-tailed rubythroat Calliope pectoralis should species, Himalayan C. sensu stricto Tian Shan mountains, Chinese tschebaiewi southwestern north-central China. According our dating based mitochondrial loci, these diverged approximately 2.2 million yr ago. We further found was paraphyletic nuclear which demonstrates state mitonuclear discordance warrants work. results suggest geographic changes glacial cycles Pleistocene may have caused divergence complex. study stresses importance applying approach fully unravel true avian diversity Mountains.
