摘要: Abstract: Song birds that have been artificially introduced to isolated areas are fruitful material for investigating changeability of songs within a limited period time. I studied Japanese Bush-warblers, Cettia diphone, which were from Japan the island O‘ahu (Hawaiian Islands) ca. 80 yr ago. These warblers on sang acoustically simpler at lower frequencies than Honshu, main Japan. Previous studies found similar tendencies small peripheral islands. Morphological characteristics indicated Hawaiian Islands did not originate insular subspecies in Therefore, acoustic structure their may changed during O‘ahu. Possible factors driving this rapid change relaxed sexual selection and/or sound transmission properties habitat.
