摘要: The presence of 4Fe–4S clusters in enzymes involved DNA repair has posed the question role these intricate cofactors damaged recognition and repair. It is particularly intriguing that base excision glycosylases remove a wide variety bases, also have vastly different sequences structures, been found to contain this cofactor. accumulating biochemical structural evidence indicates region supported by cluster intimately binding, such binding interactions impact catalysis removal. Recent established facilitates oxidation [4Fe–4S]2+ [4Fe–4S]3+ form. Notably, measured redox potentials for cluster-containing are remarkably similar. Based on DNA-mediated behavior, it suggested property may be used enhance activity facilitating location.
