摘要: Flow from artificial subsurface (tile) drainage systems may be contributing to increasing baseflow in Midwestern rivers and increased losses of nitrate-nitrogen. Standard hydrograph analysis techniques were applied model simulation output field monitoring tile-drained landscapes explore how flow tiles affects stream streamflow recession characteristics. DRAINMOD was used simulate hydrologic response drained (24 m tile spacing) undrained agricultural systems. Hydrograph conducted using programs PART RECESS. Field data obtained several sites Iowa typical heavily less-drained regions. Results indicate that primarily the portion a hydrograph, annual streams with seasonal increases occurring late spring early summer months. Master curves watersheds appear more linear than less-tiled although comparative results index k inconsistent. Considering magnitude non-point source pollutant loads coming landscapes, it is critical in-depth research done assess effects on watershed hydrology if water quality solutions are properly evaluated.
