Background values, distribution and contamination of metals in the sediments of the Pontevedra Ria (NW Spain)

摘要: Thirty-seven surface sediment samples were taken in the Pontevedra Ria (NW Iberian Peninsula), and metal concentrations (Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, Ni, Pb, Zn) organic/inorganic parameters determined order to obtain a mapping of their distribution, background values status contamination. Background obtained from Metal/Fe ratios by regression lines using “clean” stations. Contamination was assessed use normalized enrichment factors (NEF). The middle outer parts ria, mostly influenced oceanic water scarce anthropogenic activities, showed low/null contamination (NEF ∼ 1) for all metals studied. However, inner part where most (urban industrial) activities are located, significant Zn, with NEF up 5.2, 18, 3.4, respectively. rest not significantly affected.
