Sewage sludge drying using microwave energy. Characterization by FTIR

摘要: This paper explores the use of microwave energy for sewage sludge drying . Four sludges and two devices -a multimode cavity oven (MC) a single-mode (SMC)-were used. On comparing results with those conventional hot air, it was found that microwaves saved considerable time energy. Thus, MC only 5 minutes needed to achieve less than 1 wt% moisture content whereas 8 min required SMC 55 drying. The reduction in volume obtained during process also assessed, values reached being between 65-90 %. composition studied by IRTF elemental analysis. dried showed high oxygen distributed among compounds C=O C-O-C groups aliphatic hydrogen content.
