摘要: Pancreas transplantation is an option to achieve better metabolic control and decrease chronic complications in patients with diabetes. Xenotransplantation becomes important alternative. In this study, we show the clinical outcome of type 1 diabetes transplanted neonatal pig islets without immunosuppression. a longitudinal study 23 diabetes, who received porcine between 2000 2004, registered demographic characteristics every 3 months evaluation yearly. Porcine C-peptide was measured urine samples under basal conditions after stimulation l-arginine. More than 50% were female, median current age 20·8 years, duration at 5·5 11 years time post-transplantation 5·7 years. Their media glycosylated haemoglobin reduced significantly first transplantation. Insulin doses remain reduction greater 33% more patients. Before transplantation, 14 21 presented mild currently only two these complications. present all increased post-stimulation These achieved excellent This could explain, as well remaining function cells, low frequency compared similar age.
