摘要: Mathematical developments in probabilistic inference have led to optimism over the prospects for Bayesian models of cognition. Our target article calls better differentiation these technical from theoretical contributions. It distinguishes between Fundamentalism, which is theoretically limited because its neglect psychological mechanism, and Enlightenment, integrates rational mechanistic considerations thus positioned advance theory. The commentaries almost uniformly agree that grounding critical success program. Some raise additional challenges, we address here. Other claim all are mechanistically grounded, while at same time holding they should be evaluated only on a computational level. We argue this contradictory stance makes it difficult evaluate model's scientific contribution, commitments need made more explicit. © 2011 Cambridge University Press.
