摘要: Sustainable wastewater treatment requires that household is collected and treated separately from industrial rainwater run-offs. This separate is, however, still inadequate, as more than 70% of the nutrients much chemical oxygen demand (COD) potential pathogens a domestic sewage system are confined to few litres black water (faeces, urine toilet water). Whilst grey can easily be filter re-used for secondary purposes, intensive due its high COD microbial (pathogens) content. Recently developed vacuum/dry toilets produce nutrient rich semi-solid waste stream, which, with proper treatment, offers possibility nutrient, carbon, energy recovery. study investigates terrestrial applicability Life Support System (LSS) concepts framework future management. The possibilities treating together other types human-generated solid (biowastes/mixed wastes) in an anaerobic reactor at thermophilic conditions, well some post alternatives product recovery re-use, considered. Energy partially recovered form biogas produced during digestion. investigated theoretical mass balances, assessment current feasibility this technology post-treatment alternatives.
