摘要: New antennas for the NASA Deep Space Network (DSN) have been built to replace aging of older designs deep-space communications. These new incorporate a dual-shape design as well beam waveguide (BWG), which utilize series additional secondary mirrors relocate focal point into stationary room below main reflector. The advantages using such include increased isolation feed package from outside environmental factors, moisture, wind, and temperature changes; ease access equipment maintenance, troubleshooting repair purposes. This article reports on performance antenna at X-band Ka-band microwave frequencies. experiment (KaAP) antenna-efficiency measurements presented in this were acquired Goldstone DSS-13 research development (R&D) beam-waveguide between December, 1993, November, 1995. measured efficiency ground-station figure-of-merit (gain divided by operating system noise temperature) function elevation angle their uncertainties are presented. Also described station configuration, measurement technique, modeling used analysis processing, historical evolution progressive improvements configuration changes implemented.
