Child disability screening, nutrition, and early learning in 18 countries with low and middle incomes: data from the third round of UNICEF's Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (2005–06)

摘要: Summary Background Child disability is an emerging global health priority. To address the need for internationally comparable information about frequency and situation of children with disabilities, UNICEF has recommended that countries include Ten Questions screen in Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS) programme. We examined child screening its association nutrition early learning low middle incomes. Methods Cross-sectional data percentage positive or at risk were obtained 191 199 aged 2–9 years 18 participating third round MICS 2005–06. Screening results descriptively analysed according to sociodemographic, nutritional, early-learning, schooling variables. constructed a weighted analysis account sampling design every country tested differences within using χ 2 analyses. Findings A median 23% (range 3–48) screened countries. For 2–4 years, was significantly more likely who not breastfed versus those (median 36% [9–56] vs 26% [4–51]) eight countries, had received vitamin supplementation (36% [7–53] 29% [4–50]) five ten assessed, met criteria stunting (26% [6–54]) being underweight [3–61]) did (25% [3–42] [4–43], respectively) 15 assessed seven underweight, participated few early-learning activities others (31% [7–54] 24% Children 6–9 attend school often than attending (29% [2–83] 22% [3–47]) Interpretation Our draw attention improved capacity assess provide services disability.
