摘要: Abstract Net plankton community structure and numbers were studied in soft-water, acidic ponds containing aquatic macrophytes, after introduction of the herbivorous grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella). The communities with consisted significantly fewer individuals, genera, orders than did control ponds. Expected shifts from desirable to undesirable species not occur. These results demonstrate that blooms are an inevitable result stocking carp, support suggestion macrophytes may be especially significant nutrient cycling systems.
