摘要: Abstract The deformation behavior of two phase composites containing coarse rigid particles in ductile, plastically deforming matrices has been investigated using a simple, continuum mechanics model. model derived on the basis unit cell, representative composite microstructure, which is idealized to pattern periodic cubic inclusions distributed uniformly continuous matrix. stress-strain arrived at by dividing cell into elements matrix and inclusion accounting for constrained while ensuring strain compatibility. resulting closed form expressions have used predict flow stress composites. predictions compared with specific examples numerical solutions, data from finite element calculations as well experiments are available. Typical considered include discontinuous particle reinforced transversely loaded fiber A good agreement between simulations experimental measurements found.
