摘要: Fossil species of Melanopsis from a freshwater formation in the Jordan Valley (near A1-Qarn) were inves- tigated and deposits containing these are formally described as A1-Qarn Formation. Four found: buccinoidea OLIVIER, M. tchernovi HEELER 8~; SIVAN, costata OLIVIER aaronsohni BLANCKENHORN. was represented by two groups, "stepped" "non-stepped", latter dif- fering its lower figurativity index. Intermediates found between tchernovi; they may be hybrids. The assemblage bridges faunal gap, Valley, 2 Ma lake 'Erq el Ahmar on one hand 0.8-1.7 'Ubeidiya other. This suggests an early Pleistocene age about 1.8 million years for
