Outward FDI and economic growth in Malaysia: An empirical study

摘要: This paper attempts to explore the causality relationship between outward foreign direct investment (OFDI) and home country economic growth using Malaysia as a case. The main findings do not advocate OFDI-led hypothesis. In order promote growth, government should prepare private sector for increasing competition in era of globalization so that linkages can be forged with Malaysian multinationals, facilitate sourcing OFDI activities. However, study reveals evidence growth-led OFDI, which conforms development path theory, potentially internationalize business activities firms abroad could raise activity social well-being nation.
