摘要: During the last decade, approaches to evidence-based medicine, with its heavy reliance on randomized clinical trial (RCT), have been adapted nutrition science and policy. However, there are distinct differences between evidence that can be obtained for testing of drugs using RCTs those needed development nutrient requirements or dietary guidelines. Although present one approach toward understanding efficacy interventions, innate complexities actions interactions cannot always adequately addressed through any single research design. Because limitations inherent in RCTs, particularly nutrients, it is suggested policy decisions will made totality available evidence. This may mean action at a level certainty different from what would evaluation drug efficacy. Similarly, judged confidence defining recommendations prevent disease make treat disease. In brief, advancing depend upon include but go beyond them. Also necessary this advance assessing, future human studies, covariates such as biomarkers exposure response, archiving samples by emerging technologies.
