摘要: Researcher inquiries into topics such as animal welfare, affect, and human experiences of the human–animal bond have historically been rooted in positivist epistemologies reliant on quantitative measures experiments, rather than naturalistic observations individual (Fraser, 2009). In this chapter, I target several topic areas within research to explore existence benefits qualitative approaches. begin with an overview humans, including using understanding perspectives abuse neglect, companionship, grief loss issues, animal-assisted therapy. Following this, endeavors subjective animals (e.g., Minero, Tosi, Canali, & Wemelsfelder, 2009), well methodological relations between behavioral categories experience Hunter, Mendl, Lawrence, 2001). conclude challenges methods, evaluative criteria specific connections, ethical considerations for both inquiry.
