摘要: We found low, albeit significant, genetic differentiation among turbot (Psetta maxima) in the Baltic Sea but contrast to earlier findings we no evidence of isolation by distance. In fact temporal variation years one locality exceeded spatial localities. This is an unexpected result since adult are sedentary and eggs demersal at salinities occurring Baltic. Our most likely explained that sampled fish were born after/during a large influx water Sea, which may have had consequence previously locally relatively populations became admixed. These results suggest colonize variable habitats, like Baltic, face problems. Any adaptations local conditions build up during stable periods quickly become eroded when change and/or indicate ability survive reproduce low salinity more due phenotypic plasticity than strict adaptation salinity.
