Evaluation of Thematic Mapper interband registration and noise characteristics

摘要: It is pointed out that the Thematic Mapper (TM) instruments aboard Landsat-4 and Landsat-5 spacecraft have provided first digital imagery of earth's surface with a resolution sufficient to distinguish cultural features easily. The present paper provides description results studies designed investigate band-to-band registration, geodetic registration map base, periodic noise. In eight TM scenes analyzed, accuracy was high even before correction, correction for shift between focal planes brought all bands into according tight specifications.
