摘要: The Eocene-Oligocene (E-O) boundary interval is considered to be one of the major transitions in Earth’s climate, witnessing fi rst expansion East Antarctic Ice Sheet. However, extent associated climatic cooling, especially for high northern latitude continental landmasses, poorly constrained. In this study we reconstruct mean annual air temperature (MAAT) Greenland landmass during late Eocene and early Oligocene by applying a new proxy based on distribution branched tetraether lipids derived from soil bacteria preserved marine sediment core Basin. estimates are compared with composite record bioclimatic analysis pollen assemblages. Both proxies reveal comparable MAATs ~13–15 °C gradual long-term cooling ~3–5 starting near E-O boundary. These data agreement other MAAT reconstructions midlatitude continents suggest general Northern Hemisphere transition.
