摘要: English Pointer puppies were used in experiments designed to assess urea cycle function. A preliminary assay revealed a dietary arginine (Arg) requirement of 0.40% for maximal weight gain fed chemically defined L-amino acid diet. Subsequent studies showed that consumption an Arg-free diet resulted growth failure, emetic episodes, mild hyperammonemia, decreased plasma Arg and urea, orotic aciduria. Oral administration ornithine (Orn), equimolar Arg, failed correct these deficiency symptoms. Consumption concentration citrulline (Cit), on the other hand, near normal gains, but blood urine metabolite levels still did not parallel those dogs Arg. Plasma glucose was unaffected by treatment. Older (20 weeks age) performed no better than younger (7 when In serial bleeding study, ammonia increased after ingestion diet, reached peak during emesis declined immediately thereafter. contrast, Arg-adequate remained relatively constant.
