摘要: Chagas disease is caused by a protozoan parasite, Trypanosoma cruzi, and infects over 15 million people worldwide. New cases of the are now uncommon, mainly due to national control programs in Latin America. However, there large reservoir chronically infected patients, many whom will develop chagasic cardiopathy. Here, clinical diagnosis management cardiopathy discussed. Particular emphasis placed on staging patients use various diagnostic tests that may be useful individualizing treatment two most relevant syndromes, ie. heart failure arrhythmias. Finally, relevance specific discussed, stressing important role parasite persistence for pathogenesis.
