摘要: Background: Lower extremity amputations are costly and debilitating complications in patients with diabetes mellitus (DM). Our aim was to investigate changes the amputation rate DM at Karolinska University Hospital Solna (KS) following introduction of consensus guidelines for treatment prevention diabetic foot complications, identify risk groups lower that should be targeted preventive treatment. Methods: 150 191 nondiabetic were amputated KS between 2000 2006; these 102 99 belonged catchment area KS. 21 who Danderyd Hospital. All patients’ case reports searched diagnoses diabetes, vascular disorders, kidney ulcer infections foot. Results: There a 60% reduction performed above ankle during study period. Patients underwent more commonly affected by disorders compared control group. Women 10 years older than men when amputated, whereas multiple had women. 88% all diabetes-related preceded ulcers. Only 30% been referred multidisciplinary team prior decision amputation. Conclusions: These findings indicate reduced major patients, which suggests an implementation care. We also propose further rates if increased future (i.e. male sex, disease) identified offered early.
