摘要: The rate of adolescent suicide has increased dramatically in the past few decades, prompting several interventions to curb increase. Unfortunately, many intervention efforts have not benefited from current research findings because communication between researchers and those who develop is inadequate. Of specific concern are increasingly popular curriculum-based prevention programs, which demonstrated effectiveness may contain potentially deleterious components. This article reviews epidemiological suggests how this knowledge could be used more effectively reduce suicide. Recommendations include support for integrated primary efforts; education professionals; policies on firearm management; media about suicide; efficient identification treatment at-risk youth, including exposed suicidal behavior; crisis intervention; attempters.
