摘要: A survey of the Iberian lynx was conducted in Portugal between January 2002 and November 2003 order to define status distribution baselines. Intensive search for scats, scat DNA analysis, camera trapping were used areas potential presence. Over 4,200 km investigated during a global searching effort 1,975 man-hours. obtained from 168 scats analyzed, producing no positive amplifications. Camera represented total 5,647 camera-days three areas, detections. Although results cannot confirm species’ extinction, scenario is rather pessimistic probably longer present Portugal. Presently, considering Portuguese lynx’s historical range, only significantly suitable species are located southeastern part country bordering Andalusia where recent evidence presence recorded.
