摘要: Chemostats were used to study the relation between growth rate, rate of nutrient uptake and internal external concentrations two nutrients simultaneously. (Monochrysis lutheri: phosphorus vitamin B12.)Growth both limiting excess are related by simple rectangular hyperbolas.Control was shown follow a threshold rather than multiplicative pattern; that is, non-limiting exert no control at all over pattern growth. The one showed smallest cell quota: subsistence quota ratio.Monochrysis populations exhibited modes ‘Slow adapted cells’ differed from ‘fast in values constants for above relation.Uptake found be controlled as well substrate concentrations. There thus limit luxury consumption when limited another.The mathematical model formulated chemostat (equations (23)–(29)) allowed prediction rates biomass, given only input dilution rate. This should apply equally batch cultures; its possible application natural discussed.
