摘要: Eleven patients were evaluated retrospectively for their long-term changes in hypopharyngeal airway space after surgical correction of mandibular hyperplasia. All had undergone setbacks by way bilateral sagittal split osteotomies using rigid fixation. The cephalometric evaluation was based on stable craniofacial landmarks. results this study indicate that setback procedures create relative narrowing the space, as seen lateral radiographs, which isolated cases might contribute to development an obstructive sleep apnea syndrome. 2-dimensional and clinical implications are discussed.
