摘要: Diospyros peregrina Gruke. (Ebenaceae) possesses a number of medicinal properties, and is used in Bangladeshi traditionalmedicine. In this study, the methanol extracts barks seeds plant have been investigated inthe castor oil induced diarrhoea model mice. The were also studied for their anti-bacterial properties bydisc diffusion method against pathogenic bacteria responsible causing dysentery. Atthe doses 250 500 mg/kg body weight, delayed onset diarrhoea. reduced thefrequency severity test animals throughout study period. At same doses, delayedthe intestinal transit charcoal meal as compared to control, results statistically significant. both cases seed extract was found be more potent than bark extract. inhibitedthe growth Staphylococcus aureus, Shigella dysentery, Escherichia coli Pseudomonas aeruginosa, whereas theseed demonstrated inhibitory activity S. dysentery E.
